Ingredients

  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 3 cups brewed coffee
  • 2 teabags of chai tea or loose leaf equivalent
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom

Instructions

  • Add the almond milk to a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Add the tea to the almond milk and brew it as it heats. Warm until the milk comes to a low simmer and strain the tea.
  • Add the chai steeped almond milk, coffee, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon and cardamom to a blender and blend on high for 5 seconds. The latte will be frothy and foamy.
  • Pour into a mug and find a cozy spot to sit and sip on it.

Notes

  •  As I wanted to keep this chai latte recipe simple, I use dried ground spices since those are what most of you already have on hand. I added ground cinnamon and cardamom but you can go ahead and also add some ginger, nutmeg, cloves, cracked black pepper and star anise.
  • I like to sweeten my Paleo Dirty Chai Latte with maple syrup only. You could also use honey but depending on the type of honey you might find the flavor too overpowering.
  • If you're thinking about storing some chai latte in the fridge, remember that the almond milk foam will disappear. When reheating leftover, I simply put it back in the blender and blend it on high speed for about 1 minute. This should be enough to get the foam back.
  • You can enjoy this Paleo Dirty Chai Latte hot or cold served over ice or straight from the fridge!
